Description and Uses
Potassium sorbate is the potassium salt of sorbic acid, an organic compound. Although primarily used as a food preservative, potassium sorbate is effective in a wide variety of applications such as wine and personal care products.
When used as a food preservative, potassium sorbate inhibits the growth of mold, yeast and other microorganisms for shelf life stability. It is often used in foods such as cheese, dried fruit, yogurt, pet foods, dried meats, soft drinks, and baked goods.
